Laura Sheppard grew up in Cardington and is now following a course entitled "Continuing Studies in Children's Illustration" at Chelsea College in London. An exhibition of her work was held at the college in Hugon Road, Chelsea in the summer. Cardington website is very pleased to be able to stage a view of the exhibition here. It is worth noting that in order to get reasonable download times, especially in rural non-broadband areas like Cardington, the picture files have been heavily compressed with a resultant sacrifice of quality, so anyone who was lucky enough to visit the exhibition and see the originals had a real treat. |
There are 24 pictures altogether. They have been divided into 3 groups in an attempt to make the downloading time more manageable. The first group, "In My Garden", will appear to the right and the pictures are probably downloading as you read this (it should take about a minute on an ordinary phone line). It is suggested that you let that finish, then set other groups going by clicking on the links above. They will load into separate windows so that should carry on while you are looking at these. Laura writes: These first pictures are form my picture book called "In My Garden"... A book about two children playing in their garden, which turns out to be a balcony, the idea being that a child's kingdom is just that, regardless of size. In my garden,

In my garden, there's a sun that always shines |
In my garden, there's a circus, with a clown, a dancer and a tiger |
In my garden, we like to chase the fairies |
In my garden, there's lots of good hiding places, but my cat knows the best |
In my garden, there's a whole sea, with ships and sharks and fish |
