Church Fête 2010 - Over 500 people to Cardington Fete!!!!!!!
Well, wow Cardington, your thoughts for your Fete certainly did make it Great. What a fantastic Fete. Three cheers to Dawn and Roy at the Vicarage for being such accommodating, warm and welcoming hosts, who also worked so hard to the success of the Fete. So many thanks to so many hard working and optimistic hands determined to have a good day.
It was fantastic to see so many children laughing and having so much fun. Many thanks to everyone for organising and putting so much time into preparing numerous activities and games for the kids - all free to boot. At the other end of the scale, it was wonderful to have such a variety of classic and vintage vehicles on show. The refreshments almost sold out for the first time ever! What a great effort. The ladies on the stalls turned out in fantastic outfits and did a super job as always.
The efforts from everyone involved far exceeded anyone’s expectations and reports from visitors both near and far have been overwhelming. So many thanks to all those erecting gazebos, setting out stalls in the rain and everyone who turned up with items and produce for the stalls. Thanks especially to the team who provided delicious cakes and who helped to fill the gap left by dear Olive. The young farmers who had great fun and contributed invaluably, the musicians and technical people. Well, EVERYONE, the list goes on. You were there and thanks, just a fabulous turn out and a fabulous time had by all. Lots of suggestions for next year have been forthcoming and lots of enthusiasm ... wonderful. It was all about having fun so - JUST GREAT, GREAT EFFORTS ... WELL DONE CARDINGTON. Start thinking about next year !!!
Net proceeds were £3,641. This compares to £3,015 raised last year and is very pleasing because so much effort was put in by so many people to give the Fête a new lease of life. Village Hall - Flicks in the Sticks for Autumn 2010 onwards
Cardington Village Hall will start their FLICKS program on 1st September with Julie and Julia.
Tickets £4 at door starting at 7.30
This will be followed by a film each first Wednesday of each month.

Gardens Open 2010
Thank you to everyone who supported Cardington Gardens Open. We raised £2,700 which will be shared equally between the Shropshire Historic Churches Trust and St. James' church.

Cardington Promise Auction
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to and supported the Promise Auction for St James' Church. The current total is an amazing £3063 and this may increase by a further £50 if a late promise comes to fruition. A special thank you to Ken Pugh who made the evening so entertaining and all the generous promise donors and those who supported us on the night.
We would also like to thank everyone who has contributed during the year and to say that we have made donations to eight local, national and international charities during 2009.
