HAROLD CHESTER (No:65675) and his twin brother Arthur were born in Manchester. The family moved to Leebotwood and the twins went to Longnor School. They were living with their parents Robert & Margaret in what is now the Malthouse in Enchmarsh when they enlisted at the age of 18. They both joined The Welch Regiment and were together in France in the 19th Battalion when Harold fell ill on a march and died on 28 April 1918.

He is buried in the English Cemetery at Bagneux, Gezincourt on the Somme.

His twin brother Arthur was gassed but survived to be evacuated to the UK to guard German POW at Redcar.
