LIONEL CARTER (No: 24100) was born in Cardington, the only son of Mr and Mrs J. Carter. He was living in Bayston Hill, believed to be working at Morville Post Office, when he enlisted in Shrewsbury into the KSLI. It is believed that he trained as a sniper.

He was killed in action with the 7th Battalion on 26 April 1917 south east of Monchy (Arras).

His death is commemorated on the Faubourg D'Amiens Memorial (Arras).
