SAMUEL HOWELLS (No: 24708) was born in Bishop's Castle and enlisted in Shrewsbury into the KSLI whilst living in Church Stretton (but it is noted that the Wellington & Shrewsbury Journal of 22 March 1919 recorded that he was the beloved husband of Sarah of Plaish).

He was killed In action on 22 March 1918 whilst serving with the 7th Battalion.

His death is commemorated on the Faubourg D'Amiens Memorial (Arras).
