Cardington's war dead

STEPHEN THOMAS (No: 6097735 L/Cpl) served in the Second World War and is remembered alongside those soldiers who died in the First World War. A stone tablet in his memory is affixed to the north wall of the nave in St James Church (see War Dead Home Page). His family have long standing connections with Enchmarsh and Cardington and his sister was married in St James Church. He served in North Africa in 15 Platoon, C Company, 1/6 Battalion The East Surrey Regiment.

He died aged 27 on 15 April 1943. He is buried in Beja Military Cemetery, Tunisia.
